A Learning Community for Older Adults
Senior Planet is much more than the latest gadgets, apps, and websites. Its purpose is to enable older adults to come together and find ways to learn, work, create, exercise, and thrive in today’s digital age. Senior Planet’s programs are designed around five impact areas: financial security, social engagement, creative expression, health and wellness, and civic participation. These areas represent opportunities in the lives of older adults where technology can have a transformative effect.

No matter where you are in the world, you can subscribe to their newsletters and participate in free online classes. If you are near one of their physical locations, even better! They are active in five regions (with another one coming soon!):

Senior Planet centers are dynamic social environments filled with curious and friendly older adults and a wealth of the latest tech gadgets. They offer free lectures, workshops, and multi-week technology courses that help older adults learn basic computing and develop computer skills that enhance life. They also often gather for social events; most importantly, they have a lot of fun.

Who is OATS from AARP?
Senior Planet is the flagship program of the national nonprofit organization Older Adults Technology Services (OATS) from AARP. In 2004, OATS Executive Director Tom Kamber and a group of dedicated volunteers launched the organization with the mission to help older adults learn and use technology to live better in the digital age.
After a series of successful collaborations, OATS formally joined the AARP family as a charitable affiliate in 2021. This affiliation allows them to advance their mission on a large scale, helping older adults harness the power of technology regardless of their socioeconomic circumstances, geography, educational background, or age.
